Up-and-coming artist: Eliana, Trips and Hops

I would like to introduce to you a friend of mine, Eliana Alvarez, singer and song
-writer. She was born and raised in Los Angeles. We had met while interning at Dim Mak Studios, Steve Aoki's independent music label. I remember the first time we met, we were waiting to help out at a yard sale for The Cobra Snake and Steve Aoki. Long dark hair, face hiding behind sunglasses, and then the voice. Who know that behind those sunglasses was a powerful voice.

She has done some work with Beataucue and BoysNoize (aka Alexander Ridha). Moving away from some of the boys in the industry she has worked with, she is set out to release (date to be announced) a mixtape Trips and Hops. You can pick up her official release, Rationally, now.

Be on the look out, but for now here is some of her recent work that you should take a listen to.

I sat down to write today...

I sat down to write today.
But nothing would come out.
Thoughts would come to my mind and then I would stop.

I sat down to write today.
But this overwhelming feeling kept coming up.
It wouldn't leave me alone.

I sat down to write today.
But nothing got accomplished.
I felt your presence.

I sat down to write today.
But all I could think about was you.

Woodkid, Favorite New Artist

This is currently one of my favorite new artists. He only has a few songs out, but they are great! Check out some of the remixes if you get a chance. I love his voice, his words...thought provoking, moving. Take a listen.

I am nothing more than your average walking talking conundrum, with sometimes a little too much to say.

Sure, things change, people change, hey even a blog can change. As I sit back and reflect on everything I have done, I take my hand and thump it towards my forehead. What the fuck was I doing? Living.

No one ever said there was a right way to do anything. There is no right way to date, no right way to be yourself, hell...the only right there is the right you create. Right? Just remember, don't make it so overwhelming that you yourself can't achieve it. Where is all this going, you ask? Well, truth is, the only boy that ever existed behind the screen is the boy that lived inside of me. A boy afraid to be...a man. After turning 31, yeah I said it, 31! I came to a realization, I am not a West Hollywood, tight shirt (albeit sometimes they are tight along with my jeans) gay drone. Life isn't always a party dj-ed by Steve Aoki, and guest appearances by Uffie and Lady Gaga. Although, they can be at times. My likes are eclectic. So I am sorry if I don't write as much anymore...life has changed. People have come back in to my life, and we are learning to recapture, scratch that, start over from where we left off, and really learn the things about each other that we loved. So relearn? Maybe.

So here we are, fully realizing who we are. And who we are, we are starting to love. It may be a little nastier, a little raunchier...a little more...

You know you want to. So just do it. Put the y in dirt, and flip me heads or tails. Ok dirty gay boys, go get the song on Itunes, crank it up, dance around in your American Apparel underwear, and if you are up for it go ahead and fuck your couch to the song. This is the dirty gay boy anthem for the summer...go ahead and take a hit.

...get it on, ITUNES.
